Campus Programs Flashback: Gavin DeGraw
Nearly two years ago, back when he was still largely unknown, rock superstar Gavin DeGraw performed at UVM's Ira Allen Allen Chapel. The show -- UVMPM's first-ever big event -- took place on Friday, January 23, 2004 and was a huge hit.
Virginia Coalition and Michael Tolcher opened for DeGraw on a frigid January night, but hundreds of students still flocked to the Chapel for the free show.
"Gavin was the first UVMPM event I ever worked, and it was amazing," said UVMPM Crew member Marty Burrows '06, then a sophomore. "It was so cold out, but it was such a great show and experience."
A few weeks after the show, Gavin appeared on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Show. Gavin's drummer, Matt, wore his UVMPM t-shirt and the program made its national television debut! (You can view a clip from the show HERE.)
Gavin DeGraw now commands over ten times what he was paid to perform at UVM, and several hundred lucky Catamounts can now say they knew him when. That 2004 concert was huge for UVMPM and is an important part of the history of Campus Programs on our campus.
